My Dad would have had a stroke if he heard you say that.  The grease, over
time, gets grit and metal parts in it.  After a while it begins to act more
like a grinding compound than a lubricant.  I try to repack my bearings at
least once a year, whether the trailer is moved or not.

It may be overkill...but, I've been bitten once by the IH-40 monster and
don't want it again.
