[VAC] rusty frames?

Okay, I'm nervous after hearing the guy with the
'61 bambi who found all the rust when he took his
AS apart. Is this common (for those of you who
have pulled your metal into little pieces to
start all over again).

Are there any clues to knowing if my trailer is
rusting away at the frame, besides dismantling
it? Will it just fall out from under me one day
when I'm reading a good book on my purple velvet
couch?
