My 65 Caravel has a stretchy rubber line that is attached to the walls with 
something that looks like a snap.  It comes up over the bottom of the 
curtains about 3 inches, so the curtains just get tucked behind it when 
you're travelling.  Seems to work pretty well.  I also believe my 
grandparent's 63 GT had the same set up, but I'm not positive.
