If it's that 'vinyl-clad aluminum' stuff - go to an
area where you can mess up (behind a cabinet, gaucho, seating) and experiment.
If you try to use something to 'dissolve' it, you could very well end up with a
gooey mess that will never dry (don't ask me how i know this). Instead, try to
lift an edge of the vinyl with a credit card type plastic scraper, and see if
you can peel it away. This is the only technique that produces satisfactory
results (that i know of). Any adhesive residue may then be cleaned off with
'Goof-off' or similar... but your 'experiment' may convince you to leave it
alone... Others may have a simple trick i never found...
