All my stripping and polishing was on my 1966 Safari http://mrminimal.com
Some that I have used are Mother's California Gold for Clear Coats, Turtle 
Wax Heavy Duty Cleaner, Simoniz Rubbing Compound, Simoniz Polishing 
Compouind, Rolite AP-300 and the 3M Heavy Duty Polishing Compound.  The 
last two do the best job.  I would say it's a toss up on performance 
between them.  The far more important issue with either brand is the power 
of the polisher and the near constant cleaning and replacement of the pads 
while polishing.

The reason I chose the 3M is that I get more bang for the bucks and that is 
important to me.

I polished the entire coach before pulling it from Oregon to California and 
then did the top corners with a super polisher that I found in a pawn shop 
in Oceanside.  It is actually a Huge drill that I adapted to polishing pads.
My mentor and teacher was Bill Scott.  He taught me technique but did not 
recommend the 3M polish.  I found that myself during experimentation.

When I polish my coach I realize that what I am really doing is burnishing 
it.  You need a good cutting compound and lots of strength and patience to 
bring out the shine.  That's how I do it.  Others choose different paths.
