Hauling for hire............... I wonder what the US DOT would have to say.
If you cross state lines and you weigh over 10,000 GCWR you will be subject
to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Log Books, Driver
Qualification Files, US DOT Number, Accident Register and all the other fun
stuff a professional "trucker" has to put up with. I know I weight 12,900
with the 30 footer, and the DOT is REAL active right now. You may want to
consider a compliance program. See 49 CFR, Part 390.5 for the definition of a
Commercial Motor Vehicle and the application of the regulations before you
make that EZ money. The penalties can run up to 11,000 per violation.
