[VAC] Re: an electrical question
Reply to: RE: [VAC] an electrical question
Scott,
An Airstream is just an earthbound aircraft fuselage. Wire it as such.
Attach the outlet ground terminal to the point where the box is secured
to the frame using mechanical fasteners.
At the shore power junction box, make sure the neutral and hot are not
grounded to the frame or box. Do the same at the circuit breaker panel
and each outlet, junction box and switch box. Check for continuity at
between the frame and the hot & neutral circuits as verification.
It should read open.
Back at your shore power junction box, connect the shell frame to the
ground contact of your external power cord (newer models) or the
external receptacle ('50's).
If you want to keep the 2 prong outlets for authenticity, use the
3-prong adapters that have the wire that attaches to the mount screw.
They accomplish the same effect. Check for continuity from the ground
contact to the frame to make sure someone didn't mount the outlet box to
a wood block or something.
