[VAC] Re: EMERGENCY Advice Needed

Jim

Last night it started as a locked wheel when backing up, then the wheel stopped moving forward also. Is there any significance to that information? Is there any external indication that a bearing is bad as opposed to locked brakes? Here's what I plan to do:

1. Hitch up the trailer to tow vehicle with the wiring connector disconnected.

2. Try driving the vehicle forward to see if the wheel loosens up.

3. If step 2 is unsuccesful, jack the trailer up and remove wheel, drum and hub.

4. Determine if brake spring or other brake parts are locking the wheel or the bearing is trashed.

5. If brakes are cause, take shoes off and reattach hub and wheel. If bearing is trashed, go get a new one, pack and reassemble hub.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Jeff
