[VAC] Re: Tung oil - how about spar varnish?

Hey Toby,

You might want to try it on some scrap veneer and vsion it in the
trailer first. Spar varnish has a thick glossy look to it, and when it
starts to fail, it gets a cloudy look.
The oil finish that Airstream used was by choice, in that dings, scrapes
& scratches are easily touched up with a wipe of the finish. Same
with rejuvenating it down the road. Varnish, Lacquers & Polys
pretty much all have to be stripped and reapplied - oil doesn't.

From a visual standpoint, oil finishes have a warm soft look, and
water beads up rather well.

Just something to consider....
