[VAC] Re: Generator for air conditioner?-help

Rusty -

An A/C might require about 3kw or so to fire it up - draws a lot of current
when it starts.
Some folks are talking about mounting a gas-powered Honda or similar on the
tongue of their trailer.

I've got a 4kw Onan propane-fired generator inside a floor-level cabinet,
vented through the side of my Dodge mini-RV, and it runs the rooftop coleman
A/C nicely. I'm considering moving both the generator and the A/C into the
inside front area of the Airstream, at floor-level inside a (very)
sound-proofed and adequately-vented/baffled compartment.

Some vintage 'streamers prefer the floor-mounted a/c (or heat-pump,
depending on climate-range) to the roof-mounted units which tend to spoil
the clean lines of the Airstream.

Others, who aren't vacationing or full-timing in unshaded brutal heat, have
opted for the Fantastic Vent solution - replacing one of the roof-vents with
these marvels (i'm not finding the URL for this)...
