[VAC] Re: floor rot

HI
As a former boat builder and repair man I would like to give you my openion
on repairing the damage. first remove all the tile ean scrub the floore wirh
mineral sperits to remove all the old tile coment residue. the aeras that
have rot damage (from what I can understand from your descreption) are along
the walls those aereas can be treated with penetrating epoxy DO NOT USE
POLIESTERESTER fiber glass resen avalable at any do it yoursalf joints.
to make sure of complete tenetration drill a gred of 1/16to3/32 in holes
aprox 1in centers pore a liberal amount of peretrating epoxyon those
aerasmaking sure thar the wood asourbes as much as possable when it cures the
rotten wood becomes a composit material the material will wick into the edges
of the ply and stopp ant mosture intrusion into the ply
It is a good idea to apply it along the seams of the floor and around where
any fastners go through the floor espically if there is any discoloration
around the fastners.
a layer of fiber glass cloth bedded in laminating resen over the rotten aeras
would be desireable.
penetrating epoxy cost about $1990 for a 1/2 gal kit laninating epoxy about
the same.
