[VAC] Towing a 1968 17' Caravel

I plan to tow a 17' Caravel with a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0 L ... what can I do to make towing as safe as possible (Please don't suggest I buy a F350). The truck has a transmission cooler, large radiator, overdrive/underdrive and a weight distributing hitch. Should I purchase a sway bar?

P.S.

Okay...guys..I know this question appears ad naseum...but I'm a newbie and I can't seem to find a FAQ...
