Looks like the Grote site is still not answering.
One help for taillights that are on the dim side (besides new lenses) is
to paint the reflector surface inside the fixture with silver paint. An
alternative is to line it with tin foil; don't bother to make it smooth,
the wrinkles actually seem to help.
