[VAC] Re: Airstream Aluminum Wiring

Dr. G.

Thanks Gerald.

The trailer, as purchased, had an amateurishly installed roof mounted air
conditioner using a power cord dangling from the a/c and routed to a wall
duplex receptacle. I found a blank receptacle cover in an overhead locker
and removed the cover to find ac wiring, still wrapped, never terminated.

I've been working on wheels, tires, backing plates, wheel bearings,
plumbing, holding tank, and rotted floor so have not yet removed the portion
of the a/c roof mount that blocks access to the space between roof and
ceiling to run the power cord through the ceiling to the receptacle in the
cabinet. If I remember correctly, I saw copper wires when I removed the
blank cover.

I don't think the '66 has aluminum wiring but I thought it might be useful
to hear from others whether '66 A/S used copper or aluminum or which year
was the first with aluminum.
