Dan,
 Nearly all electric heaters made in the past 10 or 15 years have either
a Hi-Temp cutoff or a Tilt switch, or both. The small heater that we
carry can have its hi-temp switch tripped by simply unplugging it when
it's been running on the "High" setting. The heat will "soak" and cause
the switch to open. For that reason, I always set it to "fan only" for a
minute or so before shutting it down or unplugging it.
