Why shouldn't gel batteries be equalized?

And what about AGM batteries like Optima or Lifeline?

I would have thought that a modern converter/charger like the Intelipower
would be a perfect match with newer battery technology.

Just curious...my Univolt is working fine, but I'm sure it'll die one of
these days (no doubt at the least convenient moment) and I'd like to have my
replacement plan-of-attack in mind.
