Thanks to Chris Bryant for info re: charger/converter/distribution.
 
Finally I located a site with both the Magnetek and PDI products.

Talked to Andy there and he liked the splitting distrib./converter-charger idea, but said warranty/service would be much better using the Iota charger/converter instead of the Progressive Dynamics. They sell Iota also.
I'm planning to use a 75 watt solar panel and a pair of the Trojan 6-volt golfcart type batteries. A small bank, but I think it will be OK. No inverter planned.
