[VAC] Re: Converter/charger

I strongly recommend against the 6300 series. The 7300 series is
pretty good, IMHO- the same physical set up, but with an electronic "switch
mode" converter rather than the 6300's linear converter- you get *much*
cleaner DC power and *much* better battery charging/management.

Even better would be the Magnetek "80-D", which id basically the
top portion of the 6300/7300 series- I.E. the 120 vac breakers/
distribution on one side and the 12 vdc fuses/distribution on the other
side. This splits the converter/charger from the distribution, giving you
many more options for the converter/charger. I like the Progressive
Dynamics PD9100 series for a good price/performance trade off- with the
"Charge Wizard" module they provide pretty good battery manament- three
step charging, and an anti-(battery)sulfation feature built in, but if you
ever consider having an inverter, the bigger Heart or Trace inverters have
excellent battery charging capabilities built in.
