[VAC] 12V Drill / cig. lghtr. plug?

Hi, folks:

I hate to interrupt these "riveting " discussions of weather/birds/team
colors with a technical question, but I'm hoping one or more of you might
assist. :>)

I have a 12V cordless Panasonic drill which I gave up on a few years ago
because the replacement batteries had gotten so expensive. I replaced it
with a DeWalt 14.4V drill/saw kit. So... I've still got this 12V drill,
originally powered by a cluster of 10 little rechargeable batteries in a
pack.

Is there any reason (forgetting for now lawyers and liability) that I
couldn't fit this thing with a male 12V cigarette lighter-type plug and a
12' or so cord and use it in my Airstream (a-ha, finally! - he ties it in to
the discussion group) for misc. drilling/driving? Considering the much
higher battery amperage, do I need to concern myself with an in-line fuse or
anything else to protect the drill motor?

Thank you, oh great electrical gurus.
