[VAC] Re: A/S Floor Repair

Harvey,

Just a thought about the 1/4" of plywood you were thinking about for holding in
the resin.

What about using a piece of sheet metal over the bottom that you could remove
later after the repair has set up, sort of a temporary form or sorts, it could
be screwed or even bolted through the old floor until the main portion of the
repair is set and then the smaller holes could be filled in similarly.

Sheet metal would also be eaiser to cut to match the rotted area and allow for
any stuctural obstructions. Don't forget to either oil or grease the surface of
the metal before installing it so that the resin doesn't stick when it's time to
remove it. Actually I see no reason why it needs to be removed at all, but I
would most likely do it this way. On the other hand, if you rough up the surface
of the metal to encourage bonding of the resin, it would strengthen the repair
considerably without causing to much in the way of interference for other items
that a built up forming might cause.
