[VAC] Thermopane Windows/storm windows

Couple of years ago I met a trailer owner who had made storm windows for
his mid 70¹s unit. He acquired necessary plexiglass or similar and then
removed the window screen on the interior windows to make a pattern to
cut out the ³storm windows². He made adjusting cuts at bottom for
window locks as well as for side window levers, again using screen as
pattern for these cuts. He then replaced his screens but left couple of
the screws out to use for screwing on the new ³storms². He also used
narrow foam tape insulation on inside of ³storms². In his case the
windows have a slight curve and thus two screws at the middle/ center
(each side) were all that was necessary to draw the ³storm² tight to
the frame. Another feature used to hold bottom tight without screws was
to cut cut a narrow strip of wood that fit/lay snuggly between the
window latches and bottom of ³storms². He used the storms when he was
up north in the late fall/early winter and removed them in warmer
climates for ventilation. He said he experienced little or no fogging
and significant savings in propane useage.
