I applied Charlie's info below to the VAC serial number list, and it all
came clear.  It matches up with the serial numbers and lengths perfect. 
In 1978 the 27 foot Overlander no longer shows up, there is no longer a
29' trailer, and the Ambassador is that missing 28 footer.

Looks like in 1980 things got messy again - won't have to worry about
them being Vintage for 4 more years though....
