Airstream designates trailer sizes according to overall length.  My former
'65 Caravel measuring 16' 6" from ball to bumper was sold as a 17 footer,
even though the body length is only about 14 feet or so.   I think for most
late 50's and 60's models the body length is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet less than
the trailer length.

If you're saying that the body is around 15 to 15 1/2 feet, then it's
probably an 18 footer.
