About 20 years ago while doing contract work for IBM Office Products in 
Austin Texas my shop built hundreds of computer work stations using 5/8" 
thick honeycomb between 2 sheets of 20 ga. steel sheet. They were held 
together using a glue that was spread over the mating surfaces of the steel 
sheet. Stacked on a flat surface and weighted while drying. If a person can 
get the components, making the panels is very "lowtech".
