[VAC] Re: Power Inverters and Batteries

Dave,

Are you talking about the inverter, which supplies 13.5v DC from the battery
when you're not on shore power, or the *converter* (or converter/charger),
which supplies 13-14v DC to the 12 volt circuits and to the battery?

If you have an inverter that powers the 120v AC outlets, it should *not* be
on when you're hooked up to shore power.

I'm not sure, but it may be normal for the converter (Univolt or other
brand) to be too hot to touch when in use. I had one of these on my '65
Caravel, but I never had occasion to touch it when it was plugged in. I
have a StatPower charger in my Avion, which gets hot when in use, but not
too hot to touch.
