Gary, I have a 24' Parker flatbed trailer with weight distribution, and the
friction-pad-type sway controller. I have experienced exactly the phenomenon
you've described. I checked around, and learned that as little as a
quarter-turn too tight will produce the effect. I experimented with the
friction/pressure, and found the right setting for my rig.
