[VAC] Cleaning your A/C coils

Jim, that coil cleaner is called , Condenser coil cleaner, 1R, by CMD.
It is Crow Marketing and Distributing out of Dallas Tx. A label on the
one gallon jug says, CMD 1R is to be used only by licensed A/C
technicians and is available only through authorized wholesalers. You
are further warned to handle with care, keep out of reach from children,
and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Thanks for the warning, because
it is mostly Hydrofluoric acid, and Phosphoric acid and some foaming
agents and surfactants.
It is bright pink in color, and I must say, it works quite well. In my
early and less learned days of polishing, I tried some of this stuff,
and it did pretty much melt the clear coat, and some aluminum to boot.
Not a real good pre prep for polishing. Now if you want to clean some
gunky Condensor coils on your A/C, this stuff in a 5 to 1, or 3 to 1
diluted solution, with water, then sprayed on the coils and allowed to
sit for 3 minutes, then sprayed off with clean water,..........it works
wonders. Since it is hightly Corrosive, duh,........ACID, be very
careful. use protective eyewear and rubber gloves. Even the diluted
solution will burn your bare hands. Of course the warning label in
typical OSHA fashion, goes on and on and on in the big brother mode,
like don't get it in your EYES, and don't drink it, and don't breathe
the fumes, blah, blah, blah.
Nuff said. It can be purchased at most appliance repair stores or some
A/C wholesalers. If you decide to use some, use, caution, because it
is ACID, afterall.
