Ron, 

Electronic circuit boards don't like brown out conditions, 
power surges or 15 amp service with ten other Airstreams
on the same junction box. 

Our 1986 32' Airstream has never had the 110v plug in the 
socket. It has always been run on propane. There has never
been a circuit board problem. 

When we lead caravans, that's one of our seminars covered 
in great detail. Although we have one or two Airstream 
certified mechanics on our caravans, we've never had 
a circuit board problem for them to repair/replace. 

Your option of opting for a rebuilt fridge is another
way to keep from having circuit board problems. What is 
comes down to is "follow the advice or pay the price."
