Re: [VAC] Panorama

Vanessa, your 13 segment, 26ft Overlander, made in 56, was made in Los
Angeles. It could not be a "Panorama" because the Panorama was only 22
ft. Your coach, rare enough, had a 13 segment front, and a 9 segment
rear. The 9 segment rear, ( Dutchman's Cap, or Whale Tail) was only
made in Calif in 55, 56, and 57. The 13 segment coach was made in the
30's, then changed slightly but still with 13 segments in the 40's, then
changed slightly but still with 13 segments into the fifties. Mid
fifties, in a slow transition from 57, 58, and 59, the segment pattern
changed to 7 segments until 65 when it changed to 5 segments. As we
speak, people are filling out a features chart and Airstream Attributes
Survey, passed out by Bud Cooper at the International Rally. This 3
sheet survey will help us identify different Airstream models, by body
shape, windows, segments, logos, wheel wells, axles, tail lights,
running lights, bumpers, vents, and trunk lids. When the info is
compiled, I'm sure that Bud with write an excellent article for
publication in the Vintage Advantage, and inclusion into the home page.
In the mean time, hopefully, everyone will fill out the info and put a
stamp on it for Bud's data base.
