One of the things that we hear reported about Vulkem is that it
remains soft even after decades.  The manufacturer of Vulkem
promotes the fact that it is for use even under water and that it
works well in applications where there is some flex or movement
between surfaces (like the seams on an Airstream).  These three
reasons seem to make it ideal for Airstreams.  Oh yes...and it is
aluminum color.
