[VAC] Fresh water and an unknown tube...

Hello all...two questions if anyone can help:

1.  Is there a product recommended to clean/disenfect the inside of my fresh 
water tank?  How is it used/applied?  In other words, can you get potable 
water?  and...

2.  What is the long tube that runs the length of my trailer, about the 
diameter of a tennis ball can?  I suppose it's pretty critical, it such a 
prominent feature underneath.
