You can avoid a lot of concern over battery venting by getting sealed
batteries (no maintenance batteries). Yes, even these sealed batteries
vent just a trifle but nothing like the batteries you have to service
yourself. They are slightly more expensive then regular batteries. I have
used them forever and have never vented to outside but made sure the inside
compartments were vented inside the trailer to avoid any gaseous buildup. .
Had one of my four batteries go bad after eight years (a few months ago)
and the "rotten egg" smell (sulfur) let me know right now that I had a
problem. Batteries were connected to solar panels and thus the long life .
Still have three working but assume I'll change all of them out shortly as
I have gotten my monies worth out of them.
