Re: [VAC] replacement roof vent

Hi Tony Sadaway,

In your note, you asked, "Do any of these ORIGINAL vents still exsist on anyone's rig, or have they
all flown off over the years???"

All three vent holes on both of our 1960s Airstreams have the original aluminum vent caps. That's
not bad for more than 30 years of use. Sometimes older is better.

A different problem occurred in later years when the vents went "modern" and were "improved" with a
plastic insert in the center to allow more light in the trailer when the vents caps were closed.
Small hail stones are now breaking the aged and brittle plastic inserts. That's one of the reasons
for kevlar vent caps and/or vent covers. See http://www.lindeen.com for pictures of both.
