As I recall, the Univolt was famed for ripple, and for mistreating the
batteries. There's more modern circuitry that's quiet and commercially
available that will not mistreat the batteries. Statpower has some, I
hear. I don't know what's in my Caravel, probably a circuit of mine that
my dad installed. I know he didn't leave the Univolt.
