Jim,  I just did this to my 64 Safari, and used a product from Wal-Mart made 
by Manco, a 3/8" weatherstripping for automobiles. It has a "d" profile, and 
self adhesive strip backing. It comes 2 wide, which you peel apart. I had 
good luck with this, cleaning the channel first with rubbing alcohol, then 
lay it it there, and tuck in the edge with a putty knife.  hope this
