Re: [VAC] SHORE POWER

This is where the local code comes into play. Wisconsin
has so many unusual local building codes that I didn't
want to deal with all of the issues - - mine was
installed in conduit which had to be buried a minimum
depth (code issue) and the cable sizing was also
controlled by code. Since my outlet and box were
purchased in the same county, they were code compliant so
that part worked out. Not only that, but the cable had
to originate at the main circuit box rather than the sub
panel in the garage which had enough excess capacity to
handle the draw (another local code issue). If you don't
live in a strict code environment, you may have a little
more flexibility in how this issue is addressed.
Something to keep in mind is that if a new circuit isn't
installed to code and its installation results in a fire
- - some homeowner's policies would/could deny coverage
due to the improper (non-code) installation.
