The RV guy is right in a simplified kinda way . You also want shocks that are 
heavy duty enough to handle the weight, but not so stiff it jolts your AS to 
pieces. I have Monro heavyduty large truck gas shocks on my '54 Tradewind 
single axle. Shocks for a tandem axle don't need to be as stiff since you 
have four shocks doing duty instead of two. Take one of your old shocks with 
you. That will make the guessing game easier to win.         Good luck,
