Re: [VAC] Add Gray Water Holding Tank to 1973

Deena,
The older A/S instruction books tell how to make and use a 'gopher
hole' for waste disposal:

Dig a hole under the rear of the trailer, maybe a foot in diameter and a
couple of feet deep. Put an appropiate-sized hole in a 3' diameter piece
of plywood, run your dump hose through the opening, and cover the Gopher
Hole with the plywood. Grey water drains directly into the hole, and you
can periodically dump the black tank into the hole.

Move the trailer when the Gopher Hole starts to fill up, just like they
used to move the outhouses years ago.

The above was written before the present-day eco-sensitivity, of course.
<<grin>> However, it would still be acceptable, IMO, under certain
circumstances:

A fairly remote area, not with neighbors packed cheek-to-jowl.
Obviously, not in a campground. Not near a well (at least 75' from a
drilled well, 100' from a sand point). It would be best if the ground
was somewhat permeable, sand would be great.

FWIW: I don't clean up after my big ol' dog, and this is better than her
'land mines' all over the 3 1/2 acres she roams in. It wouldn't bother
me to have someone camped here all Summer, using a Gopher Hole. If you
feel differently and feel the need to send hate mail, please stifle
yourself.
