Re: [VAC] A/C on '61 Bambi

Sissy,

I have a Toyotomi, Model 2300, 8000 BTU which I have used in my '65 Caravel for
two summers. I install it in the rear bath area on a raised plywood platform
and vent it out the back window through a plexiglas panel which clips in place of
the screen. This is a temporary installation which takes 10 minutes. When the
A/C is operating the glass window is open and the plexiglas with vent hole serves
as the window. The cooled air blows straight down the length of the trailer. I
plug the unit into a receptacle in the bathroom and drain it with a tube that
runs to the shower drain. This is necessary because the internal tank in the
unit only holds 0.9 gal and fills fast.

Advantages: 1. Ease of installation and removal.
                                       2. Minimal modification to trailer, no
cutting of holes.
                                       3. Adequate cooling in the hottest of
summer weather,
                                            Georgia and Florida.
                                       4. When unit will not be needed it is
left home.

Disadvantages: 1. A/C must be secured for travel, I put it in the
tow vehicle.
                                       2. Loss of shower space when A/C is
installed
                                       3. Unit inside trailer is louder than
rooftop A/C when running.

I hope this information has been helpful.
