I'm just catching up with my 400+ emails and hope by now you have figured out 
how to get the hitch ball to release.  Sometimes I have to jump on the rear 
of my tow vehicle to get the ball to come down.  I am assuming you have 
pulled the latch on the hitch up?  Backing up the tow vehicle just a tad 
after you have gone through the unhitching procedure can help release the 
ball also.  Congratulations on your new AS.
