Marlaine,
Propane tanks must be inspected after the first 12 years, then every 5
years after that. As long as they don't get damaged and/or rusty,
they're good 'forever', there's no wear-out to them. The valves might
have to be replaced with the new OPD jobs; any good propane place can do
that for you.
