Re: [VAC] statpower 20 vs 40

Don,
 Bear in mind that most UniVolts are capable of at least 30 amps of
output. However, that's at a voltage that will NOT charge the battery;
they'll charge at a maximum of about 6 amps. So in fact, the
StatPower-20 will not handle as much total load as a UniVolt, even
though it'll charge the battery faster/better if there are no loads
operating in the trailer at the time.

Again, the key to the entire thing is knowing what your loads are. You
should obtain a meter that is capable of measuring volts and amps fairly
accurately. Most DVMs that I've used have a 10-amp scale that can be
used to measure the loads one at a time; you can do the addition on a
piece of paper afterwards. Be very careful when using that function so
as to not overload the meter, and be SURE to switch it back to the Volts
function immediately after you're done. If you forget and go to measure
voltage with it in the Amps function, you'll let all the factory smoke
out of the meter and it'll be useless.
