Re: [VAC] Jacking trailer

Polly, your discussion on the jacking points (patches) intrigued me, so I
went out and looked for them on my '60. Low and behold they were there! They
are only 3"x 3", but at least I know what they are for!

As for jacking the trailer off the ground, I have done this, but I shutter
each time. It causes my 26' to make some unpleasant sounds as the weight is
shitfed off the axle to the ends of the frame. Here are instructions on how
to change a tire on the road if you must do it yourself. These were given to
me by my grandfather (the original owner of my '60). I assume that he got
them from the factory.

    1. Make sure you are on hard, level ground. (Out of the way of traffic
and the wind caused from passing semi trucks!)
    2. Loosten the lug nuts.
    3. Disconnect trailer from tow vehicle.
    4. Lower the tongue (front) jack as far as it will go.
    5. Place your stabilizer jacks under the frame on both sides where it
meets the rear bumper, raising the jacks as far as safely
possible.
    6. Raise the tongue (front) jack until the wheels are raised off the
ground.
    7. Change the tire. (finger tighten the lug nuts)
    8. Lower the trailer, reattach to tow vehicle, tighten the lug nuts
fully.
    9. Re-tighten lug nuts after 100 miles or so.

Hope this helps.
