RE: [SilverStreak] LP tank

OPD valves cannot be disassembled to install a new Oring. (Exception: some
early OPDs with screw holding knob to stem.)
Illegal in all states to fill a DOT cylinder up through 40# if no OPD. LP
fill station can be fined, lose license if caught.
Larger than 40#, or horizontal installation does not use OPD.
Valve threads in aluminum cylinders sometimes strip out when removing old
valve. If this happens the cylinder is scrap.
LP suppliers are concerned with liability if they repair an old valve even
if it is repairable.

Subject: [SilverStreak] LP tank

I have two 40-lb aluminum tanks on my SS. I've noticed that one has a leak in
the valve because the black o-ring inside is worn. I've been trying to find an
o-ring for it, but all propane outlets that I've called want to sell me a new
valve. Any suggestions?
