Re: [SilverStreak] Axles

Ralph,
Right on! I have really enjoyed Tom's VAL, SSL, etc. Read a lot of others
too. The one thing I have never read about a Streamline, Silver Streak,
Spartan, or most others is any frame problems. I constantly read about, or
see pictures of AS frame problems and complete body-off total frame and
floor discards and a starting over. Wally Byam's marketing was superb. The
AS remains the only survivor and yet the very foundation concept of
light-weight and constant frame experimentations with tubing of thin and
light materials was a total give up of foundation. I had the task of working
on a lot of Airstreams bad in the day. I have lot's of RV's brands but my
experiences of past ended any interest in wanting to own an AS. AS has an
incredible amazing following and cannot be discounted. But I too am glad to
own a SS and Streamline. The only frame issues I have ever helped with or
heard about is below the battery box due to acid damage and that is always
limited to the center beam which is very repairable, and preventable.
