UV protection as I understand it is built into RV tires to insure longer
life in years versus auto tires which, according to my dealer, shouldbe
changed out after five years regardless of how much tread because the
tire casing has weakened to the point of danger. RV tires, the ST
designated tire are built with a heavy side wall as a trailer invokes
more side to side motion and wear on the tire as opposed to front/rear
action on a car. RV tires are also D rated an 8ply (although some areC
rated and 6 ply). LT or light truck tires are not recommended for RVas
they do not have the strengthed side walls.

You may have noted that most RV trailer tires usually are changed out
because cracked side walls and not from worn out tread. A friend ofmine
bought a 50's model trailer and the sellor said: "The tires I just
like new. I put them on in 1970 and I haven't used the trailer." They
had tread like new but side wall were practically peeling.

I am not sure what would happen if they put the same UV treatment incar
tires as in RV tires. Might mean car tires would also last a bit longer
which would not be good for business.
