I just wrote up a reply to Jim Dolmyer about this subject. I think thatyou
need to consider converting your brake system to electric brakes. Someonewho
knows more about the legalities of the old system will have to puttheir two
cents in on this system. My '77 manual has a whole 4 pages on the
Vac-hydraulic system. It does provide breakaway protection. so mabeit is
legal. This system takes a special brake controler that taps into thetow
vehicle vacuum system.
