I have a fastener in my repair box that may do the trick on outer skin
repair. It looks exactly the same as the image I have included except
that the shaft is spiral threaded. Similiar to a spiral shank nailbut
with sharper edges and more bite. Almost like a helix gear.
The dimensions of the one I have are: (tape measure approximate)
A = 3/8"
H=1/8"
L=1/2"
E=1/8" at tip. Spiral thread is 3/8"
I haven't found the correct name for this other than a 'Sprial Threaded
Round Head Solid Rivet'. This type of fastener can probably be foundat
industrial suppliers like Kar Products, Tifco Industries, and Fastenal.I
can't recall which one I got this from but it was one of the above.
As soon as I find the true name and supplier I will pass it on.
I've included a link here for Fastenal. They have a downloadable catalog
in PDF format. It's a biggie. 834 pages for 27 Mb for the entire catalog
or you can download specific sections. I am going to download it whenI
have a spare 45 minutes for a reference on fasteners.

Have a great day!
