Also remember that even if one type of procedure worked for a particular
older model, the type of aluminum itself has changed several timesover the
years. Most if not all, toward lesser quality. The newest Airstreamshave a
fraction the material thickness the older ones have and the gradeshave
diminished as well.

So, some of the wives tales (why aren't they called old husband's tales?)
might have some truth in them but that doesn't mean you'll enjoy similar
success if you try them on an trailer that's really a horse of a different
color.
