The 1953 is in my back yard waiting on me to start restoring it. It
needs some front floor replacement, an airconditioner, tires & wheels,
polishing and many other repairs and upgrades.

One of the "smoke stacks" has been knocked off. Before I spend big
bucks having a new one fabricated, I would like to find a used
one.(Anyone have one they would like to sell?)

I am really excited about this discussion list.

David:

Fred Coldwell in Denver, CO. I also have a 1953 Airstream, but a shortie
18' Clipper . Mine has a full curving rear end like a semicircle, not a
"breadloaf" rear end with a flat spot in the center facing rearward.

I'm trying to determine what rear marker lights and tail light was used in
1953. Both rear side marker lights (about half way around from the sides
toward the center rear) have single wires, so were marker lights and not
combination tail/stop/turn lights. They are long gone, but the slightly
brighter aluminum formerly covered by them is teardrop shaped. Although I
have a variety of 1940 & 50 teardrops shaped marker lights, nothing matches
these. They are close to, but not exactly, the size of Ford teardrop
taillights (don't know the year, perhaps late '40's) often used on hot rods.
But the repros Fords taillights are way too deep (4 inches or more) and so
cannot be used because they would extend right through to the trailer
interior.

Does your '53 have its original rear (not side) marker lights or its rear
center combo tail/stop/light? If so, could you describe or identify them?
Take and post a picture?

I also need another "smokestack" so am posting this notice for the second
person who has an extra. Tingling with excitement too,

Fred
